Several of the major local food pantries met on Tuesday morning to develop a plan for working together to make sure families are fed while SNAP benefits are not being paid during the government shutdown. Representatives from City Compassion, Concern, Delaware Tribe of Indians, Mary Martha Outreach and Salvation Army curated this list of the main food pantries, their days and hours of food distribution, and holiday closings:
Watch here for sign up dates and details. Sign ups are TYPICALLY held the first week of October. Baskets are distributed the weekend before Thanksgiving and contain a turkey (or breast for singles), canned vegetables, mashed potato flakes, gravy mix, dinner rolls and a pie.
